Updates:

  • How nice it has been to see every child (going on) 5 days a week! We are covering SO much from content to school work habits. The students are catching onto our routines and expectations, this allows for efficient and effective lessons while together in class. I am proud of them for showing such excitement for their learning!

  • This month we are showing enthusiasm for school. When we are in a positive, happy, excited mindset great things happen. This has been fun to see! Keep it up students!

  • Thank you for your time during parent teacher conferences, it was such a pleasure to see you and take the time to personally talk about your child.  This home/school connection is an important part of school success.

  • Please pack a water bottle with your child to school. The drinking fountains are only used to refill bottles and cups.  It helps so much when they have access to their own water bottle.

  • Looking for parent help from home! This will be a random task at any point but mostly consists of cutting, staple work, laminate cutting, etc. These tasks help prep us in class, focusing on more content. If you would like to be on my list to send work home here and there send me a message on Dojo!

  • Wear tennis shoes to school to ensure safe, active play.

  • If your child enjoys breakfast before school it is best if they arrive by 7:15/7:20 to allow them time to eat before we begin learning at 7:30. Thanks!

  • If your child is absent from school ( a day or two) for whatever reason I will only be sending home the most important work. So much learning takes place verbally and with tools I only have in the classroom. Attendance here is best!

  • Any transportation changes will need to be communicated with through Dojo, a note, or the office. They will mention a change to me during the day but until I have parent confirmation they dismiss as normal. This just ensures that students arrive at home safely.

  • If you child is not feeling well please take a day or two off of school to recover. This helps ensure we are all healthy while at school. If your child is sent home with COVID symptoms by the school nurse they will need to remain at home for 10 days OR present a negative COVID test. It is best to just stay home and rest!

  • If your child is at home for the 10 days we will be in contact with you about school work. Almost all work will be self guided with access to Canvas with a few papers sent home of what we are doing in class. If/when this situation arises we will manage on a personal basis.

  • Devices can be left at home unless communicated otherwise.  We may use them in class periodically for reports or exploration but as of now keep them in a safe place at home.

  •  With Halloween approaching and wanting to have a little fun we are looking for the following items, if you can send any items in by 10-26 that would be great!

    • White q-tips (2 boxes large total)

    • 2 bags of white chocolate chips

    • 2 bags of milk chocolate chips

    • 2 bags of candy corn

    • A box of Chex cereal

    • 1 box of snack or sandwich size baggies

 A Look at Next Week:

ELA

We are LOVING our bat unit. The students are already finding fascinating facts about various species of bats.  We will continue with this study as we read a bat poem, write an informative narrative, and compare and contrast.  Out bat books will be sent home after our unit so you can check out what we have been up to!

MATH

Onto… SUBTRACTION! YAY! The students will be introduced to subtraction as we identify parts of a subtraction sentence and model the take away strategy. We are looking forward to trying something new!

SCIENCE

We are onto a new unit… the human body! From the respiratory system to the skeletal and circulatory system we will learn all about what makes us healthy and active.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Another new unit… the magic of mistakes! We will look at various inventions and creations that happened by mistake! Your child will share about these when they bring their work home in a few weeks!

It has been such a joy to be here together 5 days a week. I look forward to next week!

Have a wonderful weekend!

- Ms. Reger
