Hello room 6 families!
Thank you families for signing up for a conference time. It was so nice to see you signing up right away! It will be great to have the time to talk about your child's education.
Just a reminder that we do not have school next week, happy fall break! And the week of October 12th it is a 1:00 dismissal time on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday will be a 12:00 dismissal time.
I am preparing to see ALL students 5 DAYS A WEEK staring October 12th. YAY!
As a community we have worked hard on showing perseverance and responsibility while kicking off our first grade year. For the month of October we will focus on having enthusiasm. Having the excitement, joy, and love for learning goes such a long way. I see student growth skyrocket and the days all the more fun when we show enthusiasm! We will review daily what enthusiastic actions look and sound like.
Please be sure your child has his/her lanyard on their mask when they come to school. They LOVE the lanyards, it is helpful not having the bags float away with masks, and it ensures no one picks up a mask that does not belong to them.
Next week, we will be learning all about our classroom college, NAU! Together we will be finding facts about our very own mountain town college and all that it offers for continued education goals. I am excited to represent this school and to share my experiences learning there for not one but two degrees!
Homework routines will begin October 19th, I look forward to getting back into “normal” school routines very soon!
Be sure your child arrives on time or close to 7:15 if they would like breakfast. We start our learning at 7:30.
Check Class Dojo for messages as well as the class story to see what we are up to!
Have a FUN break! I hope you all relax, have some fun, and enjoy who you spend your time with. Stay safe and try to stay cool!
A look at next week:
MATH
We have one final week of addition work, we are specifically looking at addition with 10. We are also skip counting, working on comparing numbers, and using number lines to help us solve.
ELA
We are getting BATTY! Over the next couple of weeks we will be learning all about bats. The students will be reading and writing informational text. I look forward to this unit of study!
SCIENCE
We are wrapping up our physical science unit with solids, liquids, and gases.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Our American Symbols will conclude with a Pledge of Allegiance activity and assessment. From the Statue of Liberty to Mount Rushmore and the Liberty Bell, the students have enjoyed learning about the special places within our country.
