I am happy to award Daniel Davis the Core Value award for the
month of February! He is the perfect candidate to be acknowledged for showing
integrity. I can always count on him to be truthful and honest at all times. He
shows these actions within his friendships and school work. Daniel has a strong
moral compass for what is right. I am proud of him and appreciate his
integrity! Way to go Daniel!

For the month of March we will be working on showing perseverance,
such a crucial skill when having a growth mindset. I challenge the students to persevere in all areas related to their studies.
We have to preserve when writing complex paragraphs, we can persevere when
trying a new game at recess, and we can persevere during the school week as we
learn new concepts. This value will best prepare them for second grade.
·
On Tuesday, March 5th we will be taking a school wide
picture to celebrate Franklin’s 40th anniversary. PLEASE wear your
Franklin spirit shirts on Tuesday!
·
Field day is on Friday, March 8th, starting at 8:30. The students will need to wear tennis shoes,
shirts with sleeves, and no leggings. Be
ready to hustle Franklin Firebirds!
·
Thank you parent volunteers for your time while helping make
this annual event a great one! If you have not already done so, turn in your

A look at next week…
Spalding
We
continue to work in our Spalding notebooks. As we write and mark we are working
on letter formations as well as consistent handwriting, ensuring that our books
are uniform and neat. Please be sure the books come to and from school daily.
As we read and write in class we are taking the time to recognize and implement
our phonograms. Room 19 will be full of
strong readers and writers by the year end!
Reading
We
will continue the last adventures with Frog and Toad. We will continue to read with
fluency as we focus on comprehension and writing response opportunities. The students will have many opportunities to
write short personal narratives about their life experiences. I have enjoyed reading and writing together!
Math
What
strong number skills we have within 10. ALL students received an A on his/her
math test this week. They used those number skills within place values to add
within 1,000. We will continue to work within 1,000 as we subtract.
Social
Studies
Onto
the next ancient studies unit, the Maya, Inca, and Aztec civilizations. We will be creating a project complete with
map, booklets, and illustration as we learn about each group.
Science
Onto
our last habitat, the ocean. What fun! We will be learning about the plants and
animals found in this environment.
Have
a wonderful weekend,
Ms.
Reger
