Reminders:
·
Congrats to ELAINA
for working cooperatively! I can always count on her to work with any buddy
partner and remain patient, fair and on task.
Elaina follows directions and is a helpful community member as we
complete work in an efficient and cooperative way. We are fortunate and thankful to have Elaina
as a great teammate and class member! Way to go!

The first grade will be reading
a wonderful winter story, “Over and Under the Snow”. Let’s hope for some snow prior to our
return. We will encompass hibernation
and prepositions during the week. Or book study will be complete with a winter landscape
art project and comprehension quiz. I look forward to the week back!
Math
Adding and subtracting within 20
using word problems to wrap up Module 2. I will be assessing the students towards
the end of the week. Module 3, starting
soon will be measurement!
Science
Ms. Shaw will kick off the new
year with our physical science unit that focuses on motion! How cool!
Social Studies
We will be learning about the
Central American civilizations starting off with the Mayans. From the first use of cocao beans to the unique
architecture and the uses of the land we will learn about the life of these
ancient people. How fun!
I
wish you all a Merry Christmas and restful holiday break! It is well
deserved. Be sure to ring in the new year with
those you love and I can’t wait to see my first graders in 2018. I will be
enjoying the Holiday season on the beaches of Mexico and in the warm Phoenix
sunshine!
