Reminders:
·
Congrats to DESTINY for being granted our Core Value Award of
CARING. Destiny has always shown kindness and thoughtful actions to her friends
and teachers. From picking up items in
the room and returning them to the rightful owner to complimenting other’s
fortunes. She sure is a caring and considerate classmate.
·
December will be a month of COOPERATION meaning we work together to
complete tasks. There are many
opportunities while working with buddies and as tables to show cooperative
actions. We many let others take the
lead on a task or become a leader ourselves. We listen to what others have to
say and contribute thoughts of our own.
I am looking for a consistent cooperative student in December!
·
REMINDER next Thursday, the 7th is early release!
·
Please be on time to class each and every day. I pick up the students on the playground at
8:35 and we walk in ready to learn.
·
It is that time of year for our annual canned food drive! Last year
our school collected truckloads of canned, nonperishable foods and we would LOVE
to see that again. The class who
collects the most cans wins a pizza party.
We have decided that each child should try to bring 2 cans of food,
anything more is GREAT! We start collecting on Monday! Bring in those cans
kids!
·
Next Wednesday is our monthly PTO meeting; I encourage any parents
from room 8 to come! It is such a good way to get in the know of all our school
events!
·
Thank you, thank you and thank you for signing up to help with
holiday donations. Those small items add up but with a little help from
everyone we are going to make the next two weeks pretty special as we travel
the world. Details below :]
·
I am really looking forward to the next couple of weeks!

Next Week:
Language Arts
All about Snowflake and the discoveries of their structures. I was
hoping to time it with our first snowfall but that may not be in the forecast.
The study of snowflakes is still interesting and exciting! We will be reading “Snowflake Bentley”, a fascinating
story about the photography and discovery of snowflake structures. As we read we will work on character traits
and a fun winter art project!
Math
Continuing with subtraction using picture form and number
sentences. I will be assessing the students on Tuesday as they make 10 and
pictures to solve.
Science
We will hold off switching until after first of the year due to
tradition studies.
Social Studies
From Africa to France to back home in the U.S.A. we will be
traveling the world to learn about the traditions that take place during this
time of year. Each destination will come
with Nat Geo. Kids website exploration,
a reading, a passport stamp and a craft or treat. Thank you again for the donations, with those
we are able to make each stop a fun one!
