· IMPORTANT
SHILOH news! Your child was sent home with a copy of Shiloh, PLEASE read
together at home and end the book with our Marshall movie night on May 19th.
The flyer with movie information was sent home as well. I look forward to the
reading and movie!
· The Core
Value for the month of April is, Perseverance. I
would like the students to persevere through their school work even when they
might feel like they want to give up.
Also, persevering through the school day as our energy levels may
decrease.
· One Big
Happy Family play assignments went home on Friday. We will be practicing at
school as we prepare for the show on Tuesday, May 23rd at noon.
· THANK
YOU Natalie and Grace for providing yummy snacks for the class!
Next Week:
Literature.
We will start our
literature study on Tuesday as we read a classical favorite, Charlotte’s Web! What
a hit! We have LOVED reading about baby Wilbur and Fern. Next week we will read chapters 5-10 while
focusing on vocabulary, summarizing, and sequencing. Ask your child about our story.
Science
Our extra unit time
will be Social Studies based as we completed a large habitat unit recently and
are digging deep with Westward Expansion.
Social Studies
Next week we will
continue to focus on the route, challenges, transportation, and dangers of the
Oregon Trail.
Math
Repeated addition! Onto the building blocks of multiplication,
the students are very excited about it! We will be using math manipulatives
such as counters and shapes as we make equal groups. After the concepts of repeated equal groups
have been mastered we will be using number sentences to show repeated
addition.
Thank
you all for taking the time to see what we have to look forward to. The end of the year is quickly approaching;
third grade is just around the corner! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
