The Core Value for
the month of April is, Perseverance. I would like the students
to persevere through their school work even when they might feel like they want
to give up. Also, persevering through
the school day as our energy levels may decrease.

Keep an eye out for information
about our end of the year play and party!
Next Week:
Literature./Science
Next week we be focusing on our plant and in which ways we can help
keep it beautiful! We will be reading about 6 different fiction and non-fiction
stories as we focus on story elements such a cause and effect and main idea and
detail. The week will conclude with an
art project. Again, we don’t have RTI of AZMerit testing. Instead as a class we
will be having an author’s study on Patricia Polacco. This week we will be
reading My Rotten Redheaded Older Brother
and completing a character traits art project.
Social Studies
We have been introduced to our Westward Expansion unit. We will be
reviewing the influences of Thomas Jefferson and will be introduced to Lewis
and Clark! The kids are VERY excited.
Next week we will learn about both of their strengths and how each of
them helped with the exploration. We
will also review the three goals they had in mind as they were on their
journey.
Math
We have assessed
fractions and will be introducing time in relation to telling time using
fractions. Time is such an essential skill and I highly encourage you to talk
with your child about the hands on a clock and 5 minute intervals.
We are quickly
approaching the end of the year and I cannot believe we are closer to THIRD
GRADE than ever!
Happy Easter!
