  • April 2nd- No School

A few notes:

  • Order a yearbook using the link and code below!

  • School starts promptly at 7:30 each morning. Please be sure drop off takes place before this time to ensure they are in class and ready for our day together!

  • For the month of March we will work on problem solving! This is such a big stepping stone as they gain the independence needed for second grade. We encourage the students so find answers and solutions to problems and situations.

A Look at This Week:

ELA

How fun it was to read our chapter book over the past couple of weeks. Elmer and his adventures on Tangerina Island were fun and silly! Next week we'll start our integration of habitats during our ELA time. Our first habitat is the forest habitat, learning about the climate, plants, and animals found there. We will also be reading a few Frog and Toad chapters.

MATH

The students are measuring well with nonstandard units and comparing objects using the terms longer and shorter.  Next week we will start the new unit of telling time! This concept is an important life skill.  We will start with time to the nearest hour.

SCIENCE

We are completing our ecosystem mobiles, stay tuned on Classdojo for the finished product!

SOCIAL STUDIES

We will continue with economics as we discover what it means to save and earn money.

A few notes:

  • The blog this week is short and sweet. We are back into the swing of things and ready for our fourth quarter!

  • Thank you for signing your child’s report card envelope and sending back.

  • If your child likes to grab breakfast on the way to class each morning it is best they arrive closer to 7:15. We are having a few late drop offs and are eating when we are starting our day. It is best to finish eating before we begin our learning. Thank you!

  • We will be reading from a few more chapter books this spring. We will be reading “Frog and Toad are Friends” next week. If your child would like to have their own copy to read from please use the links below! We will be gathering a class set for all to read from but if they want their own feel free to purchase.

  • For the month of March we will work on problem solving! This is such a big stepping stone as they gain the independence needed for second grade. We encourage the students so find answers and solutions to problems and situations.
