Congrats to Cadence for earning the Cooperation Core Value
Award! She shows great care and consideration when working and listening to
others. She provides thoughts and ideas to our community daily. I know I can count on her to work cooperatively
with classmates! Thank you for contributing to our learning community Cadence!
·
As a Franklin community we will work on showing acts of
kindness. I feel that our class does exceptionally well with this. These
actions make our day all the more meaningful when we find ways to help.
Kindness counts!
·
For the month of May we will be showing initiative. I
love focusing on this skill as the year comes to an end. At this point the
students are aware of our routines and expectations, with this knowledge they
can find ways to show initiative. I am looking for helpful actions that keep
our school days productive as well as actions that encourage great
thought. Cannot wait to see initiative
as we go into second grade!
·
Practice those poems!
·
Please stay healthy as our year comes to an end. Get plenty of
rest, eat healthy foods, take those vitamins and wash hands regularly. We have
had an odd flu bug going around.
·
Be sure to add to those reading logs nightly! We have just a
couple more weeks to log before collecting for the end of year report card.
·
We are in the home stretch families! I cannot believe how
quickly the year has gone and am so proud of the progress made along the way.
We have grown into strong, knowledgeable, happy citizens who are so ready for
second grade! It is important to keep the routines as normal as possible as the
year comes to an end. The school days are still full of learning.

A look at next week…
Spalding
It
has been so rewarding to look back at the first pages of our Spalding
notebooks. WOW how the handwriting and markings have improved. We have a few
more weeks to input words, continue with the responsible routines as they come
back to school daily. It will be a great portfolio of the year. If you haven’t
had the chance to take a look at the Spalding book, please do!
Reading
We
will enjoy a few tall tales, from Pecos Bill to Paul Bunyan. The students will have an opportunity to read
aloud and independently as we look into various story elements.
Math
Onto
some advanced studies, multiplication! FUN! We will continue to work with
arrays, repeated addition, and skip counting to find totals. We will be working with manipulatives and
colorful worksheet to make connections.
Social
Studies
We
are still working on our goods and services unit as students identify and
create connections of their own.
Science
The
students will have a chance to research an animal of choice. We will be using
our technology devices as well as Nat. Geo Kids to assist with research. Along with the research, we will also be
classifying animals as we look at characteristics of various species.
What
an exciting week we have, I look forward to it all!
Ms.
Reger
