Week 14

Here and there:
·       Collecting small recycled items! We have worked with the art elements of line and color.  My goal for us to complete a new art element piece while focusing on a texture art project in 2 weeks. In order to do so we are looking for items such as…
o   Sandpaper (new or used)
o   Newspaper
o   Small pieces of fabric
o   Pieces of cardboard
o   Pieces of foil
o   Pieces of bubble wrap
o   Yarn
o   Tisse paper
If you can donate an item for our project, please send in items next week! Thank you for thinking of us!
·       For the month of November we will be working on showing enthusiasm! It is one of my very favorite as if we show interest and excitement in everything we do life becomes a little more sweet. I am looking for students to share connections, ask questions, and always take any situation as an opportunity to learn something new!  I have already seen quite a few students take on this Core Value with such excitement. This month is going to be great!
·       Please be sure your child is on time to school and ready to learn. We have a few friends that arrive just after we have entered the classroom. Arriving before that it best, it also allows a chance for the students to play before school!
·       The short week will go quick, I wish you all a Thanksgiving full of family, gratitude, and time with one another. Enjoy it!

A look at next week…
Spalding
Next week will be another review week. Do not expect books to come home but instead review papers. This is a great time for us to reinforce those tricky rules and patterns. There will be a less words and more phonograms. Please use any extra time on the app to help!

Reading/ History
We have a couple more Cinderella stories to cover before we start an informative narrative unit on the Mayflower.  We will start to read about the journey to the new world before we dismiss for the weekend and continue with our unit when we return.

Math
Next week bring more computation time as students will add with a mix of problems that require regrouping and with problems that do not. As we strengthen our addition skills we will start a on telling time to the nearest hour and half hour.  What a life skill! I look forward to it!

Science
Next week we will be doubling up on our Native Americans unit.

Have a nice weekend,
Ms. Reger
