Here
and there:
·
What a wonderful week back! I could tell everyone had a restful
week of and came back ready to learn.
·
Progress reports will be sent home on Tuesday.
·
Term 2 poem choice packets will be sent home on Monday. I look
forward to another round of poetry on November 8th!
·
Just a reminder that Friday is our Franklin Fall party!
·
For the month of October I would like us to specifically focus
on PROBLEM SOLVING which means that I am looking for students to independently
find answers to difficult problems and situations. I am looking for examples of problem solving
as we work, talk, and play at school.
A look at next week…
Spalding
We
will be adding to our books. We are writing with more words with patterns,
rules, and jobs. We take our time discussing how and why we write our words in
class. Please take the time to review the nightly words and put them on the
back of the green paper. By the end of the week I want every child to be best
prepared to test!
Reading
What
fun we have had while reading folktales from around the world. Issun Boshi
seemed to be a class favorite. We will
continue with our last fable on Monday before moving on to our bat studies. As
we read about bats we will be in search of factual information. Our close
reading strategies will come into play as we mark up our text.
Math
Next
week we will dig into various number forms as the students write three digit
numbers in expanded, word, and number form. We will be using manipulatives,
whiteboards, and other tools to help make connections.
Science
I
have had great feedback about the moon journals, thank you for embracing the opportunity
to stop and observe our beautiful nightly masterpiece. I look forward to seeing
the journals for one more week!
History
The
students made real connections as we talked about our own explorations. We are
ready to start our Native American unit as we study cultural beliefs and traditions.
Next week we will learn about the regional tribes of the U.S. before learning
about the Pueblo people.
Thank
you for your continued support!
Ms.
Reger
