Reminders:
·
The snack schedule has
been SO helpful, thank you families for coming together as a community to be
sure our kids are fed and ready to learn. Also, well done on the healthy
snacks such as granola bars and crackers. I do have a small amount of fridge
space for cheese sticks and go-gurts if interested.
·
Keep collecting pledges
for the MUSTANG GALLOP! Happening this Friday, October 6th at 9:30.
·
GALLOP GEAR: I would like
all of Ms. Reger’s Comets to wear yellow red or orange shirts and black or blue
shorts/pants. Tennis shoes are also VERY important as they run those laps! If you would like to help with minimal
costume prep LET ME KNOW and I will send things home for you to work on during
the week.
· Parent teacher conferences are just around the
corner. Thank you for using the link, I
had about 19 families hop on to sign up. If you did not sign up be on the look
on Monday for an assigned time. The note will be in your child’s HW folder.
·
Isabella, Jacob and
Jordan are on the snack schedule for next week and leading into conferences.
·
Need help with math
homework!? Use the following link and click on Module 1 to find helpful
resources.
·
Collecting all BOX
TOPS! Cut out on grocery items, collect and send them on in! PTO usually does a
class party for the class who collects the most Box Tops. The funding is very beneficial as it all adds
up. We are able to purchase items for the classes and school with Box Top
funding.
·
Congrats to AZUUL as
he was awarded Septembers Core Value Award for EFFORT. I see continual effort from him as he
participates, has neat and accurate work, and applies all of his efforts to making
the most of every single school day.
·
Our Core Value for
October is Enthusiasm! I am looking for students who are eager to share, help
and show excitement for their learning. And what a perfect month to show
enthusiasm as we are learning some pretty cool things. From Egypt to literature
studies, I am enthusiastic for their enthusiasm.
·

Next Week:
Language Arts
We will be reading a Magic
Treehouse chapter book a loud as a class. If your child would like their own
copy to follow along with you may order and send it in A.S.A.P. I will be projecting the book on the board
and reading to them most of the time but know some would love to follow along
with a book of their own. Amazon seems
to be reasonable and fast shipping; you may use the following link. https://www.amazon.com/Mummies-Morning-Magic-Tree-House/dp/0679824243 We are starting off a new unit of study,
Ancient Egypt! How exciting! To get the most info in we are using our
literature time over the next couple of weeks to read about the Egyptian
adventures of Jack and Annie. Next week
we will start our literature study with chapters 4-8. HOW FUN!
Math
We have covered various
strategies for addition facts within 10.
We have worked with picture and number sentence forms, counting on, and
doubles memorization. This next week we
will continue using number lines to help us add. The number lines are helpful and such a
useful strategy at this age. I will send one home in their homework folders on
Monday for you to keep at home!
Science
Pictures coming soon from CORN DAY!
Thank you Ms. Onse for wrapping up our farming unit with the interesting and
fun cultural activities. The kids enjoyed every minute of it! Ms. Shaw is going
to start the mummification process with the students. They will understand the process of
mummification and also have a chance to mummify an object in class. What fun! Egypt within social studies, reading AND
science, what integration!
Social Studies
The pocket books are full of
Nile information. We will be learning
about hieroglyphs and practicing scribing.
They LOVE writing in ancient language.
We will also start our studies on the famous Pharaoh, King Tut!
Have a sunny and happy weekend!
-Ms.
Reger
