Reminders:
· You may send in a water bottle for your child to keep in their cubby
to drink from during the busy school day.
·
I will be sending home the snack schedule on Monday. The scheduled
snacks start in September. Your child will need to pack a snack for the next
two weeks.
·
We will already be celebrating our first birthday next week. I have
a birthday banner that I usually hang and they have a chance to wear one of my
birthday crowns. If your child would
like to send in birthday treats they need to have 23 total, one for each
student. We will celebrate at the end of
the school day.
·
Ms. Shaw and myself will be switching classes for the science and
social studies subjects. I will be teaching social studies to the two classes
and Ms. Shaw will cover the science standards. We hope that the switch offers
deeper content exposure and an opportunity to cover the most crucial of
standards. I look forward to it!
·
Class Dojo PLEASE sign up, it is a great way to follow up with your
child about the positives and areas of improvement each day. We are loving Dojo
in class, they seem to very motivated by the points. The Class Dojo is the
perfect springboard to having a Growth Mindset.
·
Just a reminder that school starts each and every day at 8:35. Drop
off starts at 8:20 for recess. If your child is here before then (other than
for breakfast) they need to be enrolled in F.A.C.T.S. or Co/Op.
·
HOMEWORK NEXT WEEK: One page of the math packet, writing their name
3 times and writing their 10 spelling words AND sentences needs to be completed
nightly or done by Friday for checking.
Again, all work is sent home on Monday and is returned in the blue
folder on Friday.
·
Thank you for popping in and messaging about how your child is
doing. If you want to get an idea of how
their days and work habits are, please check Class Dojo prior to
messaging.
Save the Dates:

Next Week:
Language Arts
We are jumping into our first literature unit, fables! The week
will consist of read alouds from Aesop’s Fables. We will be reading stories such as The Boy
Who Cried Wolf, The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, The Maid and the Milk Maid and
many more. In connection with each story
we will work on vocabulary and sequencing.
Math
This past week we worked diligently with number bonds and
representing the part-part-whole using pictures and number sentences. Next week
we will work with adding within 20.
Science
The eclipse will be at maximum coverage at 10:30 in the morning and
we plan on viewing with solar glasses purchased by PTO. Of course, sun safety
will be reviewed and watched closely to be sure every child is viewing
appropriately. The morning prior to and
just after will consist of visuals, activities and writing that align with the
movements of the sun, moon and earth. The
rest of the week the students will be working in Ms. Shaw’s classroom setting
up their science notebooks.
Social Studies
This is the first week of our switch so we are establishing
routines and how to be a supportive, kind, and active learner. It is so important to understand and build a
healthy classroom structure, I think we are off to a great start.
Have a wonderful weekend!
-Ms. Reger
