What
a wonderful start to the school year! I have enjoyed getting to know your child
a little more each day and look forward to growing together. The blog is my
main form of communication type newsletters, please do not expect weekly newsletters in paper form. Instead,
hop on and check out Ms. Reger’s nest! I
post every Friday afternoon with updates and info about the upcoming week. As soon as I receive technology forms I will
start to post pictures for you to stay extra connected while your child is at
school.
A Few Reminders:
-Log
onto Class Dojo by downloading the app and inputting the personalized student
code. This information is found on the white sheet on the “left at home” side
of the blue HW folder. The Dojo app is
the BEST way to stay informed on all of your child’s behaviors and work habits
while learning at school.
-Turn
in all office forms A.S.A.P. They were
sent home on Thursday in the blue HW folders.
-There
will be light HW next week as I hope you establish the best routines at home
for getting school work done. I think homework shows your child that we are a
team and are both “in the know” with their academics. Like I said, it is light
homework of 10 minutes of handwriting practice and 1 math side a night,
Monday-Thursday. Completed HW is due in the blue folder every Friday. “Real” homework of reading, math and spelling
will start the week of the 21st.
-Take
the time to talk with your child about our readings (Chrysanthemum and Molly
Lou Melon), the 4 rules that apply to flexible seating, and the strong work
ethic that is needed as we try our best to succeed!
-Do
not drop your child off any time before 8:20 (unless they each school
breakfast) there are no staff available until then to supervise your child.
-NEEDED:
Trail mix snack items! I would like to add more to the back to school trail mix
for snack time before the snack schedule starts. PLEASE send in any item that would mix well
into a trail mix. The students get snack every morning between the start of the
day and lunch.
-Core
Value for the month of August: RESPONSIBILITY! Such an important trait for
success. The students will be modeling and talking about what it is like to be
responsible. At the end of August I will
award one student with the Responsibility Core Value Award!
- Save the date for Wednesday, August 23rd from 5-6:30 for our Marshall open house.

Next Week:
Reading:
I will be reading one of my very favorite stories to the children on Monday,
What Do You Do With An IDEA! The week will follow with activities about
brainstorming, creativity and individuality.
We will be picking up the pace with our writing so be sure that homework
is complete!
Math:
Jumping right into number bonds and part, part, whole relationships. This should be a review. There is a math
packet with counting and number forms for homework. Your child is to complete
one side each night and return on Friday.
Science:
With the solar eclipse around the corner we will be learning about the sun,
moon, and stars. The students will have
a chance to create diagrams, observe and write about the sky above.
Social
Studies: We will continue to focus on relationships and building a healthy
class culture.
Have
a wonderful weekend first grade families!
