· Literature
Studies coming up! You can order a copy for your child,
· THE
GIVING PROJECT, we have decided as a class to focus in the Humane Society! Ask
your child about what they have learned on how we can help this organization.
We did research on the IPads on what is on their wish list and how it can help.
Some items are inexpensive and and other require more finical commitment. Any
help is greatly appreciate as we learn as we learn the value of giving back to
our community.
· March is
over! We will be giving the award for initiative on Monday. The Core Value for
the month of April is, Perseverance. I
would like the students to persevere through their school work even when they might
feel like they want to give up. Also, persevering
through the school day as our energy levels may decrease.
· THANK
YOU for all the supplies for ocean day and the parent help! We couldn’t of had
such a successful day without it! It was such an exciting day and we did so
many fun activities to reflect on all of our ocean knowledge. I have included
picture at the bottom of each group.
· We enjoyed
lunch with Paige and Anycia, Heather and Annabelle, and Caleb and Natalie. We
are looking forward to our last lunch with Myah and Liliana. We are half way to
earning our class reward at 2,500 points!
Next Week:
Literature
We are still reading
our Magic Tree house Titanic book and are finishing it by the end of the week.
We are focusing on comprehension, vocabulary, comparing and contrasting, and
making inferences. We don’t have RTI for the next three weeks because of AZMerit
testing. Instead as a class we will be having an author’s study on Patricia
Polacco. This week we will be reading Rechenka’s
Eggs and completing a thinking map about the book as well as water coloring
beautiful paper eggs!
Social Studies
We have been introduced to our Westward
Expansion unit. We will be reviewing new vocabulary and maps that we will be
using and reading about Thomas Jefferson and the Louisiana Purchase that
started our countries expansion!
Math
We are finishing our geometry unit next week, learning about
shapes and their characteristics! At home you can review how many sides triangles,
quadrilaterals, pentagons and hexagons have. Then we will start our work on
fractions at the end of the week. Introducing vocabulary like whole, parts, halves,
thirds and fourths
Ask your
child about our ocean day and have a great weekend!
