· Literature
Studies coming up! You can order a copy for your child,
· THE
GIVING PROJECT, we have decided as a class to focus in the Humane Society! Ask
your child about what they have learned on how we can help this organization.
We did research on the IPads on what is on their wish list and how it can help.
Some items are inexpensive and and other require more finical commitment. Any
help is greatly appreciate as we learn as we learn the value of giving back to
our community.
· Core
Value for the month of March, initiative. I
would like the students to take initiative as they challenge themselves to best
prepare for 3rd grade. Also,
taking on responsibilities and kind actions in and out of the classroom.
·
We will be celebrating our ocean habitat with
an ocean day! The students will be
participating in many ocean learning activities, but we will need your helping
hand. Thank you so much for the families that have already donated items or
have signed up to volunteer! Please take the time to donate an item or two,
and/or your time! Use the sign up genius link below: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/409094BADA92BA3FB6-ocean
· We are
looking for two parent volunteers at home with some prep work for our upcoming
literature studies. We are looking for one parent to make paper bag books for Charlotte’s Web, all supplies will be
provided. We are also looking for another parent to make pioneer journals, all
supplies will be provided. Please message ASAP on class dojo so we can send
home materials.
· We enjoyed
lunch with Jason and Jesse, and Talia and Ryder this week! Looking forward to
eating with Paige and Anycia, Heather and Annabelle, and Caleb and Natalie.
They have loved learning about our economy with our Dojo points and saving and/
or spending each week. This was our week of our class economy ask your child
what they purchased. We are back to normally earning points as a class at 2,500
there will be reward!
Next Week:
Literature
We are starting our
read on the Magic Tree house Titanic book. We are focusing on comprehension,
vocabulary, comparing and contrasting, and making inferences. We were
introduced this week to the Titanic and what our prior knowledge is and what we
are excited to learn about.
Science
This week our science
will be focused on our ocean day on Friday from 9-11! We have many different
center to tie in what we have learned over the past two weeks. Can’t wait to
see you all there.
Social Studies
On Wednesday will be moving
on to our new social studies unit: Westward Expansion. Discussing why people
migrate and settle down, how they establish laws and review new vocabulary that
we will be exposed to.
Math
We have just finished up our money unit and their skills have really
grow this week! Please continue to incorporate money at home by counting coins!
We are putting in a new math newsletter in the homework folders on Monday, this
newsletter is helpful when reviewing skills for our next module. We are
starting our geometry unit next week, learning about shapes and their
characteristics!
I
hope you all had relaxing spring break with the nice weather we had! We are excited
for all of the upcoming learning we have left for this last quarter of second
grade!
