A few notes:
BIG NEWS… WELCOME MS. RODRIGUEZ! We will have a student teacher for the spring semester. She will be joining us following winter break. I always enjoy the opportunity to mentor and work with teachers as they fall in love with this profession. She will be observing the first few weeks and slowly take over teaching while executing our lessons, and the day to day tasks of teaching. She will be a wonderful addition to room 6!
Next week is spirit week, I can’t wait to see that room 6 spirit! The days will be so fun!
Next Friday will be a Polar Express and PJ Day for us!
The first 2 weeks following winter break will be completely remote. A new schedule will be shared with you all next week. The students will be live and working independently throughout the school days. We have made such progress since returning to campus, I look forward to continuing on and growing into 2021. Keep an eye out for Classdojo messages, posts, and possibly emails to inform you of our schedule and expectations remotely.
The first week back is also parent/ teacher conference week! I will send out a signup genius to sign up for a time. We will meet at your childs purple button at our scheduled time. We can chat about what your child is doing well and what skills we need to refine as we prepare for second grade (WOW!).
Thank you so much for the donations. What a giving community we have, we REALLY appreciate your generosity. We will have wonderful activities and yummy treats to enjoy!
The students have done a great job wearing their masks during the school day, this is so helpful!
I will be working on report cards next week as I prepare them for parent teacher conference week.
For the month of December we are working on showing actions of INTEGRITY. We are showing honest trustworthy actions, even when no one is watching. I look forward to seeing students making good choices on their own in all areas of our campus.
A Look at Next Week:
EL A
Our reindeer unit concluded with the adventure of “Olive the Other Reindeer”. What a cute story that the students loved, we identified problems and solutions and cause and effect elements. Next week will be all about the various gingerbread stories! From Ninjabread man to Gingerbread Girl, we will compare and contrast them all.
Math
We will be continuing with numbers and place value to 120. Pulling apart and building numbers with blocks, pictures, as well as in numeral form. This week we will also review our math facts within 20.
Social Studies
We will be finishing our Traditions Around the World unit! We will be traveling the globe as we check in on what various countries are doing this time of year. Again, if you can help make this unit extra special with snacks and crafts please sign up for an item to donate! THANK YOU!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Ms. Reger
