A few notes:

  • January 4th and 5th I will be out of town. As many of you know I will be getting married on NYE, following this exciting event we will be taking a minimoon. The students will have links, assignments, flipgrids, and things to do to get them learning for those couple of days. I look forward to seeing everyone at the purple button on Wednesday, January 6th at 7:30 am.

  • Please take the time to check your child’s Canvas homepage. I have uploaded a new schedule under the schedule button. It is very different than the one we previously had.

  • While learning remotely for those couple of weeks our online manners are to be in tip top shape. We have done this before and expect those actions to be remembered so we can get right to content. As a reminder… Students are to be alert and ready for the school day, all food and drink are to be placed away from devices, and students need to be in a workspace that allows them to hear and speak.

  • Keep you bags of assignments in safe spaces. I do not have extra and will not have access to create new ones if they are lost. As a first grade team we spent lots of time preparing them and including items for 2 full weeks of learning from home.

  • Next week is spirit week, I can’t wait to see that room 6 spirit! The days will be so fun!

  • I had to make a correction to our important dates… Parent Teacher Conference week will take place the week of Jan 11-15th. Please click the link below to sign up for a time that works best for you. Thank you. I can't wait to meet you at your child’s purple button and share all that I love about them!

  • Thank you so much for the donations. What a giving community we have, we REALLY appreciate your generosity. We will have wonderful activities and yummy treats to enjoy!

  • I will be working on report cards next week as I prepare them for parent teacher conference week.

  • For the month of January we will be working on the Core Value of ORGANIZATION! It is the perfect time of year to think about how and where we place things to make the days as efficient as possible. I am looking for students to place things back where they belong, take their time doing things slowly and neatly, and to have work spaces that allow to focus on the task at hand.

A Look at Next Week:

EL A

Our first two weeks will be all about snow! From snow activities to snowflake structures. Have any of our students been to the snow? If so please send me a picture to share with the class at the start of our unit. They can share about their snowy experience.I look forward to combining fictional and non-fiction stories. We will be back to reading and working online, participation may look different than in class but connections and following along are still important.

Math

We will be kicking off the new year with a review of a variety of math concepts.

Social Studies

All about maps! Our geography unit will consist of looking at a variety of maps as well as making some of our own.  We will also learn about directions, legends, and symbols.

Science

Time to work with weather! We have finally seen a change in weather here in AZ. We will start our weather unit, which also coincides with our snow weeks!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!

Ms. Reger
