Week 8

 Hi there!

  • What a great week! It is so nice to see the students catching onto our routines and expectations. I love to see them here in person and know lots of meaningful lessons are taking place at school and home.

  • Next Friday, October 2nd we get out of school at 11:30.

  • SPIRIT WEEK is next week! I LOVE spirit week, the days go as followed:

    • Monday- Mismatch

    • Tuesday- Twin Day (I will be wearing jeans as well as a plain blue shirt and white shoes if you need a twin!)

    • Wednesday- Blue and Yellow colors (Go Lumberjacks!)

    • Thursday- Tie Dye

    • Friday- PJ Day!

  • Parent teacher conferences are just around the corner. Conference week follows fall break, October 12th, 13th, and 15th will be available for you to sign up for one slot of choice. It will be first come first served.  Please stay posted on Monday as I will be sending out the link to sign up for a conference slot.  When you comment on your sign up time, please type in your child’s name and if you will be coming to school to meet or prefer meeting at the purple button. Again, this will be sent out on Monday.

  • Conference week, October 12th-16th will be early release at 1:00, Wednesday is as usual at 12.

  • Report card grades will reflect the work done remotely as well as in person. Any missing assignments have been sent in a message on Canvas. I am able to assess your child when work is turned in.

  • Benchmark testing is taking place in class. This is a test that is given throughout the year to assess progress. This will be our baseline so I just want the students to try their personal best, much of the information they may not know.  The test is given within the subjects of Math and ELA.  I look forward to meeting them where they are at!

  • Please be sure your child is on time to class. If they would like to eat breakfast upon arrival drop off time closer to 7:15 is best. This allows them time to pick up breakfast and eat in class before we start our morning lesson.

  • Only B students will need to bring devices to school.

  • Label water bottles and send them to school for your child to drink from during the day.

  • Looking for the following school supplies. These are extra special items that help make our learning all the more fun. If you are able to donate an item it would be of great help!

A look at next week!

Math

We are continuing to work with addition and our hundreds chart. I am impressed with the use of number lines and adding correctly.

ELA

Next week we will be working on story elements as well as words with -ch. Any additional reading time at home is very beneficial.  Reading homework will start after October break.

Science

We will introduce and do a reading on the states of matter!

Social Studies

Our American Symbols unit has been so fun! Next week we will learn about Mount Rushmore.

Week 7

 Hi!

  • Thank you students and families for being flexible and helpful while transitioning to our new schedule. It has been so nice to see students in person! Also, thank you for being on time each morning, this helps get our day started right away!

  • Be sure the avid notebooks come to and from school daily. We will be using them in class and there are items sent home in them.

  • Thank you for communicating with me on Class Dojo. It is the easiest way to get in touch with me!

  • Your child needs to wear tennis shoes to school.

  • I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful paintings sent home on Thursday and Friday. We were inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe!

  • Take the time this weekend to ensure your child can log into his/her device independently. This will help so very much when we use our devices in class. Thanks!

  • Device update… Group A will not need to transport devices to and from school.

B scheduled students will need to bring devices to and from school due to specials being recorded lessons. Headphones are helpful as well.

  • If your child needs meals for home fill out the form using the link below. These are school lunches that are passed out for when they will not be on campus. I will only submit names for lunches to be sent home for those who complete the form. If your child does not need meals while not at school you do not need to complete the form.

 A Look at Next Week:

Math

What fun it has been working with addition and subtraction. We will continue to work with the “more” and “fewer” vocabulary words and comparisons all year long. This was a challenging skill that we will master in time. I am proud of the efforts made with this so far. For next week we focus specifically on addition and subtraction word problems. There will be some activities that offer a printed paper, I will email this out.  If you have access to a printer and would like to print the recording sheet feel free to. If you are unable to print that is OK, your child may use their notebooks.  We will also have a Google quiz next week.

ELA

We are wrapping up our first Module, I CANNOT BELIEVE IT! WOW! We have been working very hard with story elements, 5 Ws, character traits, and nouns. Next week will be a review and have lots of fun. The week will conclude with a module test.

Science

We are continuing to understand movement and force.  The week will finish with a fun read a loud and an opportunity to make a magic potion composed of dish soap and glycerin (if you would like to order). The potion is not mandatory but I wanted to offer this for those who would like to participate. We have a science quiz next week.

Social Studies

The students will focus on citizenship and being a helpful community member.  This is so important as we live and grow in all of our communities.

Thank you for another successful week, I adore my students and families!
