Week 38 The LAST Week!

·       As a Franklin community we will work on showing acts of kindness. I feel that our class does exceptionally well with this. These actions make our day all the more meaningful when we find ways to help. Kindness counts!
·       For the last week in the month of May we will be working on showing initiative. I love focusing on this skill as the year comes to an end. At this point the students are aware of our routines and expectations, with this knowledge they can find ways to show initiative. I am looking for helpful actions that keep our school days productive as well as actions that encourage great thought.  Cannot wait to see initiative as we go into second grade!
·       Our class does not have any overdue books, YAY! Thank you!
·       We are onto our last week of first grade, what a year it has been. The learning continues so please be here and be on time.
·       If you signed up for any party donations, thank you for the help, please send in on Monday so we can be sure we have what we need. Mrs. Pond has planned a super fun day!

Spalding
We will be adding to our books for one more week. Be sure the come back to school so we have them for our final word input.
Reading
We will reading the worries of Wemberly Worry as big changes are to take place. We can relate to the nerves we may have about second grade but know that we are ready for what is to come! The students will also be working on passports as we reflect on our first grade year.
Math
A variety of review and math games will take place next week. Addition and Subtraction BINGO is a favorite!
Social Studies
Next week we will take a look at how things were in the past. We will compare past and present schooling, transportation and communication.
Science
The students will have a chance to research an animal of choice. We will be using our technology devices as well as Nat. Geo Kids to continue with our research.  Along with the research, we will also be classifying animals as we look at characteristics of various species.
