Weekly update for the week of March 27th

 Hello all! 

·      Ms. Reger will be gone tomorrow, Friday, the 24^th, as I will be running my 3^rd half marathon of the school year!

·      Save the Date:

o   Feb 24^th- Field trip slips and $10 due

o   March 1^st- PTO @ 6

o   March 7^th- Field trip

o   March 8^th-10^th- Parent Teacher Conferences

·      Field trip permission slip, chaperone slip, and $10 fee is due by February 24^th.  We will not be taking any more chaperones after that day, we will need to check for bus room and update chaperones on the transportation plans. Plans will be sent home on Monday, the 27^th.

·      Water bottles, your child may keep on in their cubby to use when needed.

·      Next week will be our last week to encourage and acknowledge integrity.

·      We have had a few discussions on having a Growth Mindset, I also sent home a flyer on Monday to read over with your child. I would like us to practice challenges in a more positive and productive way. We can self-reflect, use a different strategy, or learn a lesson for the next challenge.

·      PLEASE sign up for a parent teacher conference time, if you do not sign up by Friday, March 3^rd, you will be assigned a time. Click the following Link:

Next Week:

Literature

I am looking forward to our read aloud and discussion based learning next week. I will be reading various fairytales to the class, one of them being Beauty and the Beast! After our stories we will be completing activities involving idioms, morals, and key vocabulary for comprehension.

Science

We will continue to read about the rainforest. We have learned about the different layers and the plants and animals found within each. The students will have a chance to research an animal of choice. I cannot wait for them to find some fascinating facts about the special animals found in this habitat.

Social Studies

Ms. Denny has an exciting and enriched economics unit planned.  She will introduce the students to a classroom economy, which will take place over the next few weeks.  Along with the concepts of the class economy students will be introduced to the key terms such as budget, savings, supply, and demand. I am looking forward to the content and hands on activities involved during our economics unit. 

Math

Moving on from measurement and onto unit counting and money!

Weekly Update 02-20-17

Reminders:

·      LAST DAY FOR BOX TOPS IS TOMORROW!!!! We have seen many Zip-locks full! That is awesome!

·      Save the Date:

o   Feb 22^nd- George Washington’s birthday!

o   Feb 24^th- Field trip slips and $10 due

o   March 1^st- PTO @ 6

So far we have MANY parents that would like to join, which is awesome, but this will determine transportation plans. I will follow up with an email or message on Monday the 27^th informing all chaperones of details.

Next Week:

Literature/ Science

We are integrating our science into our literature time, next week will be all about the rainforest. This has always been one of my most favorite habitats to read and learn about. Next week we will be making a foldable as we learn about the plants, animals, and adaptations found in each layer.   

Social Studies

We would love to celebrate George Washington’s birthday on Tuesday, Feb. 22^nd.  Any family that would like to provide patriotic cupcakes, we will gladly sing and celebrate.  We will also be reading a George Washington poem and making a President portrait. Next week we will be giving a pre-test for the economics unit that is just around the corner.   

Math

We dabbled a bit into graphing and data analysis, and measurement using inches. The students will be using personal rulers as we perfect our measuring skills.
