Lots
of happy notes today…

WOW way to go room 8 families! We collected 380 cans, just 4
behind Mrs. Overton’s class… it was agreed upon that both classes will receive a
pizza party for their efforts. I was beyond amazed with the donations, it made
me so happy and proud to hear that our class was one of the most giving. We talked about competitions being fun but
more than anything we came together as a class and were able to make a huge
impact on those who need it most. Thank you for your generosity and showing
your child how good it feels to give.

We are now looking for items for our own gingerbread celebration,
looking for graham crackers (any flavor), frosting (any flavor), and small candies or sweets
to decorate. Marshmallows, chocolate chips, gummy bears, candy canes,
licorice, kisses, really anything will work! Please send in any items in by
Tuesday as I will be shopping for additional supplies Tuesday night.
·
All families are welcomed to the Gingerbread party, Wednesday
from 2:30-3:20. I will be sending home
another invite for you on Monday with details. Hope to see you then!
·
Please be sure your child can attend the entire school day each
and every day, we have had quite a few pull outs towards the last part of the
day. Our days are filled with so much learning and I would like your child to
be here for as much as possible. Your consideration is appreciated.
·
Keep reading at home! For each night of signed off 20 minutes of
reading your child gets a sticker that is good for a BINGO card for the Book
BINGO event. Logs are due on Wednesday.

Week:
Literature
Gingerbread
week! All week long we will be reading various versions of the Gingerbread Man.
Following up with the stories with text to self-connections, compare and
contrast, and problem/solution activities.
Math
Continuing
on with adding and subtracting vertically.
The students have been using place value disks, drawings, and adding
tens/ones to understand why and when we bundle and unbundle. I gave a
mid-module assessment last week and realized we had a few things to work on.
This week we reviewed areas in which we needed to improve upon and will be
retesting on Monday. I look forward to
seeing much improvement in their scores.
Science
We
will jump into ecosystems after break.
Social
Studies
Continuing
with our travels, traveling to Italy, Mexico, back to the U.S. and wrapping
things up with a Hanukah celebration. We have enjoyed reading about the
traditions and beliefs of people from around the world!
What
a joyful time of year! I hope you all have had a happy, festive, and cozy
holiday season so far!
