Hey there! We have been reading the classic story, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.  We will now be doing a mini play of the story while in 3 groups of 9 and each child has a part.

The groups are:
Group 1: Grace, Talia, Harley, Natalie, Peyton, Christina, Amara, Anycia, Bree
Group 2: Kaiser, Damian, Annabelle, Caleb, Liliana, Bryce, Jesse, Heather
Group 3: Ryder, Jimmy Jason, Paige, AJ, Valen, Andrew B., Myah

I have sent home a full play with your child today (November 30th). I highly encourage you to read it over at home. The students will be making head bands with their character on it. Any additional clothing (optional) to add to the part is welcomed. You can send it in with your child on Wednesday, December 7th as we will be showing the final performance.

I am looking forward to our festive activity next week! Thanks!

Happy Thanksgiving

I wish all of our room 8 families a grateful Thanksgiving with loved ones! This season I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to be here at Marshall.  With the blessing to relocate and the chance to be apart of your child's second grade year my heart could not be more full. We have had many great days together and I look forward to many more before the school year is over!

Literature
We started reading “Thanksgiving on Thursday” this week, and will finish over the 2 days next week. Our story takes place during the Pilgrim times as Jack and Anna learn about the teachings of the Native Americans and they first feast the two parties shared.  The kids have LOVED the story!

Social Studies
Our election unit was a huge success, I heard many respectful and truthful comments and we followed the campaign.  We are double dipping with the history of Thanksgiving through the Magic Treehouse for Literature and Social Studies.

Math
What hard working mathematicians we have! The kids have LOVED using the vertical strategy to solve, and it has been nice to see a concept that has been known for generations. We will continue to work on word problems and adding within 1,000 over the next couple lessons.

Science

No science due to the short week!
