have 6,160 class points! WOOHOO! When we reach 10,000 as a class we will have a
sweet treat to celebrate.

When your
child has 500 dojo points they can customize their dojo!
Stuffed
Animals
I would like
the students to have a chance to “Read to Someone” during our DAILY 5 time. Who
better to read to than a fluffy friend? If you have any gently used, sanitized,
small/medium sized stuffed animals we will gladly take them! You may send them
in at any time!
Walk to
school day
We will be
participating in the annual FUSD walk to school day on Wednesday, October 5th.
Permission slips for bus riders will be sent home today! Heather Williams, County
Rec. employee and Mr. Coe will be at the Armory on Thorpe at 7:30 next
Wednesday morning to meet early birds. Our first bus (Rt. 807) will arrive around
8:00, and around 8:10 the bulk of our
buses (2, 13,27, 46) will arrive. The last bus (Rt. 22) won't
arrive until close to 8:40. Mr. Coe will walk the last group to the school. I look forward to our morning together!
Jog-A-Thon
Details
Our annual
Mustang Gallop is quickly approaching. I hope all students are kindly asking
friends and families to help support Marshall. We will be representing Greece
and our school spirit by wearing Mustang attire or a blue or white shirt. We have talked about the day in class,
students have asked if they could make shirts for the event, that would be
super! I have 2 parent volunteers so far; we are looking for a few more! If you
would like to help from 9:45-11:00 please email me or send in the volunteer
form.
Olympic
Celebration
I would like
to celebrate the history of the Olympics in Greece prior to and after the
Jog-A-Thon. Complete with readings, crafts, and food! If you could send in any
of the following items by Wednesday, it would be greatly appreciated!

CONGRATS Talia Call for winning the Effort Core Value Award! Talia was the perfect candidate, she continuously shows active learning, participation, and values details within her work. She is complimented on often when she is involved and focused on the task at hand. We enjoy having Talia in class and know that she is an excellent role model for showing effort towards learning!
Next week...
Literature
Next week we
will be reading “Helping Out” while talking about what it looks like and how it
feels to be helpful citizens. We will
also be sharing examples of how we help at home and school.
Math
Continuing on
with counting up and number order from 90-1000. We have been showing our counting
strategies with number bonds, pictures, and word form.
Science
Our states of
matter unit has been great! We even had a chance to explore solids outside.
This week we will conduct a tower experiment and spend an afternoon with a
special guest on the water cycle.
Social
Studies
We have been
discussing our community and the different elements that make it special
including the places and people. 2nd graders will be kicking off a
election until, we will read and discuss about the leaders of our nation,
political parties, and how we have an opportunity to vote.
