- PLEASE send in "Sam the Minute Man" by Wednesday of next week (the 6th) we will be reading from it soon!
- The Spring Concert is next Wednesday.  Please check your email with a detailed letter about arrival and attire.

-       -BEACH PARTY!! Tomorrow, Friday, April 1st, we will be having our very own beach party. This was the party that was favored while earning fuzzies over the month of March.  Your child may pack a colorful (NO popculture) towel in his/her backpack. We will be using them while making our escape to the tropics! ;P

-       -Scholarly behavior is expected at all times and in all areas here at school. We had a brief discussion of what it looks and sounds like to be respectful citizens while in class, on the playground, during specials, and when using the restroom. Please take the time to talk to your child about being prepared and ready to learn up to our very last day of school. Second grade here we come!

-       -Optional island projects are due in class on Friday, the 8th. Please only send in on Friday, we will be sharing and they will be sent home that day. I wish we had more space to display for a longer period of time! Can’t wait to see their creative projects!

Next week:

Math

It has been a tangible help using unifix cubes and counters to see adding and subtracting within 100.  We will continue to work with larger numbers within 100.  Comparing and ordering.

Literature

Scholars will be reciting “Rope Rhyme” next week.  “My Father’s Dragon” had a happy ending! Next week we will review various story elements and use the test to look back for evidence.  The hard cover copy that I have has 2 more stories, continuing with Elmer’s adventures.  A few read a aloud lessons will take place, just for pure enjoyment and love of reading!

Science

I hope to spark some curiosity about electricity!  We will discuss and experiment with static electricity.

History

We have LOVED reading and writing about the establishment, growth, and events within our 13 colonies.  Next week we will be continue to read about the birth of our nation and the American Revolution. We will also be reading about a few revolutionary lives such as Benjamin Fanklin, Debirah Sampson, and Phillis Wheatley.

Working with thermometers and unifix cubes!
