Happy Holidays All!

Weekly Reminders
-       Thursday and Friday next week are half days; dismissal is at 11:45.
-       If your student would like a math work packet with a semester worth of concepts to work on over the holiday break send me an email.  It is not required and would only like to make copies as needed. :]
-       Treat Friday money, please tuck away in your child’s lunch box, the coins out in class have become a bit of a distraction.
-       Travelin’ for Traditions: An optional non-fiction reading and snack will take place before school on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  If your child would like to read about traditions that take place this time of year throughout different places around the world please have them arrive promptly at 7:20.
-       Travelin’ in class, we will be snacking, reading, and crafting on Thursday and Friday as we travel to Israel, Mexico, and back home to the United States!
-       Holiday Sign up genius, THANK YOU families who have already signed up to bring an item. We appreciate the support, if you could provide anything to help us travel, please do so.
-       Cozy game day: Next Friday the students will be doing a cozy game day party!  Each child may bring a game (cards, checkers, chess) and small stuffed animal (needs to fit in their backpack).  We will have a cozy fire going, lots of space to play, and a chance to spend time together playing some of our favorite games!

A Look at Next Week:

Math
Next week the students will continue to work on interpreting data using various types of graphs.  I am looking for 2 volunteers to run math groups; I have 2 activities planned that require some hands on help.  Math groups are from about 9:55-11:10.  If you would like to come help, please send me an email, we would be happy to have you!

Science
Continuing with Earth layers and minerals.  Students will discover that Earth is composed of layers, they will also learn about what each layer is composed of.  This past week we worked on Earth layer mobiles: they look great!   Took a bit longer than planned, so we are rolling over a few items into next week with an introduction to minerals including the mineral cookie dig activity.

Literature
We will complete our Frog and Toad unit with mini play retells, writing letters, and describing our favorite character (Frog or Toad).  Scholars will also use the adventures of Frog and Toad to reflect and write about our Archway virtues.  Throughout our stories we were able to see examples of the virtues we strive to implement each day.  I look forward to our conservations and reflections!  We will also take the time to recite "Table Manners", we LOVE practicing this one!

History
We will continue onto our last world religion, Islam.  The students will be learning about the 5 pillars, Islamic symbols, and details to praying rituals. Everyone has been extremely respectful when learning and sharing ideas and thoughts about our religious studies, it has been very much appreciated.
