·      Our scholars have started studying Ancient Egypt! This week we read about life along the Nile and Pharaohs! I can’t wait to dig deeper after the break. We will be celebrating with an Egypt party towards the first week in November, details to follow! Parent help will a greatly appreciated with our day with the Egyptians.

·      We have wrapped up our habitat study with a mini rainforest research project.  After the break we will start our unit on the human body! Our first graders will be studying the skeletal system, circulatory system, muscular system, and nervous system!

·      Mrs. Smith did place a Rocket math practice sheet in homework folders yesterday.  We highly encourage you to make copies or place it in a sheet cover or even laminate. Time your student for 1 minute when you have a chance to master fluency.

·      Feel free to email pictures over the break! We would love to see the family fun!

·      Student absences are still a concern, I know family emergencies happen and it is important to be with family during crucial times.  We have students missing up to a week at a time.  Most work done in class is supported by conversations and activities that cannot be completed at home. Much work is missed when a student is gone, please keep that in mind. Thank you!

·      Looking for:

o  Candy corn

o  Any type of small candy that is individually wrapped (no peanuts)

o  Tissues (Lets keep the colds away!)

·      I am shocked that the first quarter of our year has come and gone so quickly! Our first grade scholars continue to grow and learn so much from day to day.  Keep up the hard work students! I wish everyone a relaxing fall break!
