A few notes:

  • Monday, November 30th will be a remote learning day. Students must log in and complete the work to be counted as present, otherwise an absent mark will apply. The students will log onto Canvas and click the “MONDAY” button.  All assignments and tasks will be listed.  The students will be working on a combination of paper packet work and online.  This work can be done throughout the day that best fits your schedule, there will be no “LIVE” sessions. Again, directions will be found under the button, paperwork will be collected for credit on Tuesday.

  • TRADITIONS AROUND THE WORLD studies… We are going to be traveling the globe to find out what various countries participate in during this time of year. The study brings us to 9 countries, as we look at their location, climate, currency, and how they celebrate the holiday season such as decorating with a tree and/or enjoying special recipes. Every year I usually have a snack and craft ready after we have read about our destination, I do not want to let COVID stop that from having some fun… so we will be creative! If you can donate any of the following items from the link below, it would be greatly appreciated! We are looking for craft items and individually wrapped treats. THANK YOU, we would love for our donation list to be complete to take in every bit of this unit. Thank you!

  • Our supplies have been well loved, ask your child if they need a new box of crayons, if so, send them in to replenish! The box of 24 is best to offer a variety of color choices when working. Thanks!

  • I hope you all have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!  I am thankful for each and every one of our first graders. They are filled with cheer, happiness, jokes, and love. I appreciate them as well as the opportunity to be in class learning and growing together!

A few notes:

  • It is a quiet week with only a few memos, thank you for taking the time to read. A home-school connection is an important one.

  • I have enjoyed watching our fluency and word recognition grow. They are also very interested in our Thanksgiving unit.  This has been fun!

  • The caring actions I have seen this week has really made my heart melt. I am hearing more “Thank You”, seeing more door holding, and watching as they take care of one another while working and playing. We are raising some pretty special humans!

  • OOPS! I am sorry for the Turkey Tom due date of the 9th, feel free to send in Turkey Tom any day next week! Get creative and have fun with it!

  • I love posting to Dojo and do my best to share all that we are up to. I get poor service in the building so posts may be later in the day or the next day but I try and post while we work. Just FYI! :]

  • YAY for Scholastic! I have finally established a class code, this means you may order books online through Scholastic until November 16th. This is new for me but I hope I have set up everything with Scholastic correctly to make shopping fun and simple.  Simply follow these directions below to get shopping!

    • During the COVID crisis, you can choose where to have your books shipped: to your home or delivered to me with our class order. With a $25 order, you will get FREE shipping and a FREE Book (use code: READS).

    • All orders also earn FREE Books for our class. Thank you for your support!

    • Class Order Due Date: 11/16/20

    • Connect and Shop Our Class Page: https://orders.scholastic.com/WRRPL

    • Shop the flyers for our grade with your child: https://editions.mydigitalpublication.com/publication/?i=670561

Our fables unit has been a wonderful way to show extra connections. The students have “read between the lines” to find true morals from our stories.  We will continue with a few more next week. We will also be working on some informative texts that relate to Veteran’s day, the students will write with our informational stories as well.

Math

The subtraction skills are really coming along! We will continue to take away within 20, finding larger differences.

Social Studies

We will continue with Thanksgiving history about the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag people.

Science

We will wrap up our human body unit with our nervous and circulatory system!

Thanks for your continued support, I adore your children and have seen SO MUCH growth!
