A few notes:

  • What a wonderful week it has been. I have seen such growth in their academic stamina.  We are able to get so much in during our school days. Our community rocks!

  • I have sent home both September math journals and September writing journals. These were done at the students own pace, some pages are complete while others they did not get to. This is OK.  If you would like to take a look at our writing journals and math concepts please feel free to.

  • Welcome November, we have a full month planned with new skills and concepts. Please be sure your child is healthy, arrives on time, and has all needed supplies to make the most of their school days.

  • I have so loved seeing the ENTHUSIASM each and every school day throughout the month of October. For the month of November we will be working on showing caring actions as we think about the concerns and feelings of others.  I look forward to seeing actions that are helpful and good natured.

  • Thank you for the donations to help make our Friday the 30th extra special. I appreciate you!

  • YAY for Scholastic! I have finally established a class code, this means you may order books online through Scholastic until November 16th. This is new for me but I hope I have set up everything with Scholastic correctly to make shopping fun and simple.  Simply follow these directions below to get shopping!

    • During the COVID crisis, you can choose where to have your books shipped: to your home or delivered to me with our class order. With a $25 order, you will get FREE shipping and a FREE Book (use code: READS).

    • All orders also earn FREE Books for our class. Thank you for your support!

    • Class Order Due Date: 11/16/20

    • Connect and Shop Our Class Page: https://orders.scholastic.com/WRRPL

    • Shop the flyers for our grade with your child: https://editions.mydigitalpublication.com/publication/?i=670561

    • Please feel free to forward the Class Page link to extended family and friends who may want to support your child's reading.

    • Class Code: WRRPL

What we are up to next week:

ELA

We are starting new November writing journals, these prompts are done independently when they arrive each morning and discussed before starting class at 7:30.  ELA for the next few weeks will consist of anything and everything Thanksgiving! From types of food, to pilgrim and Native American living then and now, it will be great to learn more about the holiday!

MATH

We are relating addition and subtraction with fact families, looking at true/false number sentences, as well as comparing numbers. I have been impressed with their ability to take away when using subtraction.

SCIENCE

Continuing with the human body with the circulatory system and digestive system.

SOCIAL STUDIES

We will be working along with our ELA unit to study events of the past that contributed to the creation of Thanksgiving.

I hope you all have a safe and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

-Ms. Reger
