Our Core Value for the month of February will be INTEGRITY. We show actions of complete honesty even when
no one else knows the truth but us. This
is a valuable trait that all children and adults should carry as we live and
work together. I hope to see a little
integrity in us all this month!
·
Thank you for your support at home, we had multiple days this
week in which ALL students turned in their homework. I love that they are reliable and responsible
with their home studies.
·
What fun Valentine’s was! I enjoyed reflecting on all the things
that make our days so sweet!
·
We have completed yet another round of assessments to check for
reading and math mastery. I look forward
sharing these results with you at conferences.
·
Check our DOJO story and your messages to review your conference
slot. Please be on time and ready to
hear all about how wonderful your child is!

A look at next week…
Spalding
We
continue to work in our Spalding notebooks. As we write and mark we are working
on letter formations as well as consistent handwriting, ensuring that our books
are uniform and neat. Please be sure the books come to and from school daily.
As we read and write in class we are taking the time to recognize and implement
our phonograms. Room 19 will be full of
strong readers and writers by the year end!
Reading
The
students were really interested in our presidential unit. We will start the adventures with Frog and
Toad as we read a variety of these classic books. We will read with fluency as we focus on
comprehension and writing response opportunities. The students will have many opportunities to
write short personal narratives about his/her life experiences. I look forward to reading and writing
together!
Math
Next
week we will review a variety of first grade skills as well as work on the
skill of measurement using temperature. We will use thermometers as we find the
weather forecast and take real life measurements throughout the week.
Social
Studies
Continuing
with the ancient studies unit of Mesopotamia.
Science
Onto
the rain forest habitat! It is always a favorite as we understand the layers of
the rain forest and the special plants and animals found within them.
Enjoy
your 3 day weekend!
