Week 18

Important Updates!
·       This month in room 19 we are working hard to show caring actions. We are making an effort to think about the concerns, cares, and feelings of others. I most enjoy seeing the students initiate kindness and care through actions and ideas of their own. We apologize, even if it was accident, hold the door for others, and use our words to express happiness or sadness. I can tell our community is full of considerate classmates. It is nice to see it shine this month!
·       Term 3 report  cards will be sent home following the holiday break. Please return the envelopes and signed copy as soon as possible.
·       Tutoring will continue in January after parent notices are signed and return. We will continue with language on Tuesday and math on Thursdays.
·       THANK YOU for all the donations! They are GREATLY appreciated and will make the next two weeks extra special!
·       Be sure your child is reading aloud to you nightly as well a logging any books read together on the book log. I am collecting book logs now for the term 3 report card.
·       The Winter Sing will be on Tuesday, December 18th at 6:30 at Mountain View High School. Families and students may arrive at 6:30. The performance starts promptly at 7:00.  They have been working hard on their songs, it will be a great show!

A look at next week…
Spalding
Spelling words will be introduced as usual Monday- Wednesday with a review day on Thursday.  I would like to review the spelling expectations with you. They will write the nightly words two times each without markings going down the green homework sheet. Please be sure it is folded and they are writing along the start of the line and the fold. This allows for neat and organized habits.  Thursday is the only night when all words are written once without markings. Our weekly phonograms consist of ones that are in need of review as well as ones found in our spelling words. Letter formations and neatness count!

Reading
This last week of the term we will continue to combine our literature and social studies subjects as we travel the world together.  Each day we will travel to a new country using the Nat. Geo website to learn about the currency, monuments, language, and traditions that take place this time of year. It is a wonderful time of year and an enjoyable unit!

Math
Subtraction time! How exciting we will be using 2-digit subtraction problems to take away.

Science
Social studies will be heavily incorporated over the next two weeks.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Ms. Reger

Reading
That’s a wrap with Owl at Home. I can’t express enough how enjoyable it was to listen to the children read. I was continually impressed with their fluent and expressive reading!  Over the next two weeks we will be combining our literature and social studies subjects as we travel the world together.  Each day we will travel to a new country using the Nat. Geo website to learn about the currency, monuments, language, and traditions that take place this time of year. It is a wonderful time of year and an enjoyable unit!

Math
What a life skill we have been working on, identifying money and its value. Next week we will be counting change. This task will take time and patience and will take support from home. There will be counting coins with change at home added to the nightly homework.

Science
Social studies will be heavily incorporated over the next two weeks.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Ms. Reger
