August 27th

As August comes to an end
·      We will be celebrating our first fuzzy earned party, a POPCORN party on Friday, August28th!
·       We started math groups this past week with huge success!  The students practiced responsibility while working in groups that were not given independent instructional support. Great job first graders!
·      The students had new seats this past Monday; the room arrangement is working well.  But please remind your scholars of the importance of focusing, participating, and being good role models to our class friends!
·      Please be sure that all homework components are completed each night.  If one night is busier than the others make it up prior to or the night after.
·      My biggest apologies on the relay of information regarding weekend homework.  As a school Arete does believe that weekend homework can and should be assigned as a follow through to the week.  I encourage families to review pages 23 and 24 of the family handbook to further explain the policies.
·      Weekend homework: students will bring home their agenda and green folder. Students are expected to practice 20 phonograms of choice as well as complete their usual reading assignment. Again, I am sorry for any inconveniences.
·      We got froggy in first grade today!!! Learning about life cycles!

Our Weekly Reminders

Hello 1A Families!

·      Curriculum Night is tonight! I hope to see all of our parents there, students are asked not be in attendance.
·      Each student was given an agenda at the start of the year.  Please be sure it is not misplaced, the replacement fee will be $12 and they can be found in the office.
·      I will no longer be providing snacks.  We have snacks twice a day; if your child would like to snack throughout the day please send healthy, no mess, and no nut snacks!
·      We will be reading “Owl At Home” by Arnold Lobel in September.  Please send a copy with your child next week.  They will need a copy to read from in class.
·      DIBELS Assessments will be taking place next week. Teachers will be assessing children individually to get a better understanding of his/her reading ability and sounds.  Data will be shared after collection and review.
School attendance and arrival is extremely important.  Students need to be in their seats and ready for the day by 7:50 each morning!
